PULSE GRADUATES

Specialises in graduate recruitment.

Submit your CV with a covering letter outlining your career preferences. They will contact you if a suitable vacancy is, or becomes, available.

This site seems relatively new, no vacancies are advertised online and they don't specify which sectors they concentrate on if any.

BEST APPOINTMENTS

Most useful for finalists and recently graduated students. Some vacancies are available for those with some work experience.

Vacancies are listed in the following sectors: marketing, financial, engineering, IT, HR, purchasing, logistics & management training.

CAMBRIDGE GRADUATES

Service for graduates and other candidates up to 4 years into their career.

They welcome CVs from graduates of any university and from any degree discipline. They are strongest in networking, programming & web design, sales & marketing, languages & translation and finance (ACA/CIMA).

Jobs are also advertised online from across the UK though many are in Cambridge or London. Many of these are claimed not to be advertised elsewhere. Apply via email or an online form.

Provide a very comprehensive help section for CVs and interviews. They also offer free CV and interview advice if you register with them.

AGENCY CENTRAL

Offers a huge range of useful services, especially a database of employment agencies. This is not a specialist graduate site but there is a dedicated graduate section.

The graduate section lists registered graduate recruitment agencies. You can search this database by county, sector or by name. It provides address, website and email details.

The non-graduate section of this site offers several usefull services. There is a similar searchable database of recruitment agencies that are not graduate specific and for a wider range of sectors.

Submit your CV which is made accessible to agencies.

Career advice - CVs, interviews and working abroad. The resources section also lists websites specialising in these and other spefific areas. There is also a list detailing which days various newspapers advertise vacancies for different sectors.

If you want to search for a position yourself a link is provided to Career Corner where you can search their database of current vacancies.

GRADUNET

Lists vacancies which may be searched by location, profession and date you are available from. You can also refine your search by adding your degree result/expected result and your subject.

While you are searching through vacancies you can store any you are interested in and access them later in your own "Work Desk" so you don't lose them.

The latest vacancies are also listed separately in a bulletin.

There is a "Meeting Rooms" section which features occasional online chat for employers.

The library section features a range of useful services. Dates and venues for forthcoming careers fairs are provided along with employer presentations. The recruitment forum features articles written by those who have been through the job hunting process describing everything from how they were successful to bad experiences with recruitment agencies. There is a professions index describing major occupations, typical starting salaries, skill and qualification requirements, future prospects and professional bodies. The job seekers guide provides information on job searching, applications, building a career, continuing studies as a postgrad, and starting up a business.

OXFORD GRADUATE RECRUITMENT

Aimed at "top graduates" (not necessarily Oxford) with 1-4 years work experience since graduation or those looking for their first job or a career change.

A limited number of vacancies are published on the site whilst they also list other sector in which they are active and invite CVs.

The latest vacancies are also listed separately in a bulletin.

DOCTOR JOB

Specialising in graduate careers, vacancies may be searched by sector, location, discipline, or start date. There is also the option to exclude jobs advertised by recruitment consultants/agencies.

Search results also specify whether the employer is looking for a regular/annual intake or immediate vacancies. There is also a separate database of 389 companies and organisations who recruit on an annual basis.

Careers advice is available including choosing a job, CVs, interviews and networking whilst the events section provides details of forthcoming careers fairs and other relevant events. Contact details are also given.

There are several interactive features such as the "moan zone" where you can share your thoughts and experiences. An expert is available on a monthly basis to answer your questions, whilst there is also an "Occusoap" following the experiences of several graduates.

There is advice for completing aptitude tests, including online practice tests.

Profiles are available of different professions detailing what sort of work is involved, how competitive it is, male/female ratios, key skills and sources of further information.

There are also additional sections on postgraduate study (information on funding etc.) and life, including a lighthearted but fun A-Z resource covering everything from alcohol and accomodation, to office parties and .resigning!

NASES

The National Association of Student Employment Staff - this site does not list vacancies but is principally for students looking for PT/temping work. However the fact that it has a database of university careers advice centres is a useful resource.

There is a useful section on employment rights provided by the TUC.

SELBY MILL SMITH

This consultancy does not list vacancies but offers to get your name in front of lots of employers through completing just 1 form..

Fill in the biographic and personal profile questionnaire which takes about 40 minutes. They also offer to provide to with a free feedback report on your responses.
